Reading The Easter Storybook: Focus on Jesus this Easter Season

Starting with Jesus’ time in the temple as a boy and ending with His appearances after the resurrection, The Easter Storybook invites readers into the big picture of God’s love. Each of the 40 full-color, beautifully illustrated stories includes a Bible passage and a conversational question to guide families through the Easter season together.

The Easter Storybook focuses not just on Jesus’ last days but on the journey of His whole life leading to the joy of Easter morning. Every story will give children a glimpse into Jesus’ identity—as Teacher, Good Shepherd, Savior, and King.

Easter Reading Plans for 2024

The Easter Storybook includes 40 daily stories which can be read together as a family in preparation for Easter. With Easter approaching on March 31, 2024, there are a few ways to schedule your readings.

Some families observe a traditional Lenten calendar, beginning on February 14 this year (Ash Wednesday). This date marks 46 days until Easter, so you can take Sundays off, and the last reading of the book will occur on the day before Easter.

Alternately, a simple 40-day countdown to Easter begins on February 20 this year. The final reading will happen on Easter Sunday.

We hope you find a rhythm that makes sense for your family!

The Go-and-Tell Storybook – Coming November 2022!

Jesus’ good work didn’t end when He returned to His Father—God’s Spirit came and continued the rescue!

The Go-and-Tell Storybook is the third title in the beautifully illustrated Bible Storybook series (together with The Advent Storybook and The Easter Storybook). The book uses simple, engaging Bible retellings to inspire children and their families to go and tell the story of Jesus the Rescuer—why He came, who He is, and how His work of rescue and hope continues, spreading from His first-century followers to the whole world, even to us today.

Follow along through 30 Bible stories that show how the Holy Spirit came and what Jesus’ friends did. Experience the adventures of Peter, Paul, and other believers from the Pentecost celebration through the Acts of the Apostles.

These stories will keep your child amazed, engaged, and inspired with:

  • a key Bible verse at the beginning of each story
  • a conversation-starting question at the end of each story
  • beautiful illustrations and intriguing maps
  • learning opportunities for the littlest hearts to share the love of Jesus

Read the stories for a month as a daily family devotional or throughout the year. Get excited to go and tell how Jesus makes everything good and new!

The book is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping on November 1, 2022. Find it at Amazon.com and other retailers.

The Hope of Christmas: Jesus’s Role as Rescuer and Redeemer

The Advent Storybook: 25 Bible Stories Showing Why Jesus Came presents a family-friendly depiction of Eden, the Fall, Jesus’ birth, and so many important stories in between. Perfect for the Advent season leading to Christmas, The Advent Storybook includes beautiful illustrations by accomplished artist Ian Dale to accompany each of the twenty-five stories.

Author and mom, Laura Richie, originally created the storybook for her own three children, to highlight God’s role as Rescuer in each of their lives. After writing the book, she felt God prompting her to publish it and make the story of His rescue available for other children and families, as well. The Advent Storybook is set to release from David C Cook on October 1, 2018.

About her book, Richie says, “In the beginning, God made everything good—there was no evil, suffering, or death. But a terrible enemy crept into the Garden of light, laughter, and life. When people believed his lies, everything shattered. All seemed lost. But the Creator spoke a promise: One day, a Son would come to make all things good and new again! The birth of Jesus, the Promised Son, is the reason we celebrate Christmas!”

Written for children ages 4-8, the book includes a story for each day of December leading up to Christmas—a perfect reminder of God’s rescue and redemption in preparation for the celebration of Christ’s first coming.

Color, lighting, and body language are utilized in the detailed illustrations to paint a clearer image of the dark stages of suffering as well as the lightness of hope God’s people experienced from the Garden of Eden to the first Christmas. Each of the twenty-five entries begins with a key verse and ends with a thoughtful question for families to discuss during the holiday season.
